Hi all,
There was a bug in dtlutgen affecting r889-1006, which caused it to ignore the -trace option. It is fixed in r1007.
The bug is unlikely to cause undetected problems unless you have been trying to modify the default trace (2.1E-9) by some small amount.
Internally, dtlutgen simulates data from a diffusion tensor with variable anisotropy and constant trace. The default is 2.1E-9, which is approximately what we see in the brain, measured in m^2 / s. Some scheme file b-values are specified in units of s / mm^2, in which case you would need to set "-trace 2.1E-3" so that the units of the DT and the b-values match.
