[Camino-users] upgrade to gamma-distributed random number generator

Hi everyone,

I've committed an update to the code that generates gamma-distributed random
numbers in Camino. This change will only affect people who run large-scale
simulations (more than about 10000 cylinders or so) using gamma-distributed
cylinders. The change is to the algorithm used to generate the radii of the
cylinders and replaces the previous method with a new one with improved
performance and convergence. Samples from the new method converge much
faster on the underlying gamma distribution and are faster to generate, and
unlike the previous algorithm has uniform performance across all parameter
values.

If you don't run simulations with gamma-distributed substrates this won't
affect you at all.

If you do run simulations with gamma-distributed substrates, the new method
will improve the accuracy and precision of the synthetic signals.

If you're running simulations with gamma-distributed substrates and more
than about 10000 cylinders, the new method will be particularly helpful.

Hope this is useful,

Matt.
