[Mrtrix-discussion] RE: SD_PROB tractography with DWI input

In a follow-up to that question:

Running SD_PROB on a DWI dataset will interpret the first (Lmax+1)*(Lmax+2)/2 DWIs as FOD SH coefficients. This will indeed produce nonsense tracts.

ALL SD_* tractography algorithms require SH coefficients of the FOD as input.

Cheers,
Ben

Hi Jonathan,

Probabilistic tractography with DTI is not implemented in MRtrix.

>From the manual or the help function: "Allowed types are DT_STREAM, SD_STREAM, SD_PROB."

DT_STREAM is deterministic streamline tractography with the DT model
SD_STREAM is deterministic streamline tractography with FODs
SD_PROB is probabilistic streamline tractography with FODS

Cheers,
Ben

Hi all,
hopefully this a quick and easy question. Does MRtrix allow you to run probabilistic tractography with the diffusion tensor reconstruction. Or does probabilistic tractography only run with CSD reconstructed data? If I run streamtrack using SD_PROB with DWI data as the input it outputs a tck file but the tracks seem to be slightly gibberish
All the best
Jonathan
