Hi Corina,
Judging from your debug backtrace, the issue originates from pretty deep
within GTK (the library responsible for displaying all the GUI components),
and seems to be an issue with the FreeType library (which is responsible
for font rendering), specifically as it's trying to load a TrueType font.
That's very unlikely to be due to MRtrix per se, but with some bug in the
GTK or FreeType libraries installed on your system. My suggestion would be
to try different versions of these libraries.
Maybe someone else on this list using MacOSX 10.6.8 could suggest
alternative versions of the dependencies that do work for them?
Cheers,
Donald.
