Inquiry on Combining Task-State and Resting-State fMRI Data in Meta-Analysis
We are exploring altered brain function in depressed patients, compared to normal subjects. We have attempted to combine task-state and resting-state fMRI data for analysis. In our literature review, We came across an article published in 2013 in PLOS ONE, titled “Neural Correlates of Psychotherapy in Anxiety and Depression: A Meta-Analysis.” We noticed that the author successfully combined task-state and resting-state data in the analysis. We'd like to know what the criteria are for harmonizing the analyses. If it's all about whole-brain based studies of patients versus normal subjects, can the task-state and resting-state coordinates be analysed together? We are looking forward to any guidance and advice you could provide. Thank you in advance for your valuable time and the response you may offer.

Good afternoon, 


It is not recommended to analyze tasks-based and resting fMRI together in one meta-analysis, as they measure different things. However, you could conduct each meta-analysis separately and then use the multimodal option to check the overlapped regions,
