RE: Best Practices For Your NITRC Project
While it would be wonderful if all NITRC projects used all of the
provided functionality, NITRC actively promotes a level of
'minimal' compliance through periodic project review by NITRC
staff. This review is designed to make sure that NITRC is providing
a valuable service to the users so that users can find projects,
and the content of each project has some value to the potential
user.
To this end, 'minimal' compliance consists of: establishing the tool categorization settings (keywords, etc.); setting the homepage URL, if applicable; including (or linking to) the resource in the 'Files' tab; and including (or linking to) documentation.
Of course, more comprehensive (i.e. non-minimal) 'best practices' include use of forums, mailing lists, bug and feature tracking, etc., either hosted at NITRC or remotely.
