Biostatistics, Bioinformatics and Biomathematics (BioSIM) Posted By: David Kennedy - Jul 20, 2010Tool/Resource: Journals It is a pleasure to say that the inaugural issue of our new journal: Biostatistics, Bioinformatics and Biomathematics (hereafter we call it BioSIM) has been successfully published. The journal aims to publish findings of research investigators with expertise in the biostatistical, bioinformatical and biomathematical aspects of clinical, basic science, population science research among others. The aim of first section of BioSIM: Biostatistics is to advance statistical science and its application to problems of human health and disease, with the ultimate goal of advancing the public's health, including basic biomedical sciences. Topics include (but not limited to) developments in likelihood methods for inference, epidemiologic statistics, clinical trials, survival analysis, and statistical genetics. Papers should focus on methods and applications. The aim of second section of BioSIM: Bioinformatics is to publish the highest quality research papers and review articles of interest to academic and industrial researchers and educators in the life sciences. Although the possible set of paper topics is large and we encourage submission on any area within the scope of bioinformatics and computational biology. Topics include (but not limited to) new developments in genome bioinformatics, computational biology, DNA sequencing, expression profiling, alignment methods, gene expression studies, protein profiles and HMMs, metabolic and signalling pathways, structure and function prediction, mapping and microarrays. The goal of third section of BioSIM: Biomathematics is to present the latest achievements in biomathematics, facilitate international academic exchanges and promote the development of biomathematics. Areas of biology covered include, mathematical ecology, infectious disease dynamical system, biofluids, cell biology, physiology, neurobiology and behaviour, development, ecology, population biology, genetics and evolution, epidemiology, immunology, molecular biology, DNA and protein structure and function, and more. Accepted papers for the inaugural issue: (1) Zhang Weiping and Chen Yu: Double sampling method for genetic association analysis with differential genotyping errors; (2) Wang Xiao-Jing and Song Guo-Hua: Stability analysis of a kind of pinus koraiensis ecological system with time delay; (3) R. M. Farouk, Mohamed I. A. Othman and K. A. Riad: A family of flexible score functions for blind source separation. Many papers are under review. This international peer-reviewed journal will be published in two volumes annually and each volume comprises of two issues appearing in the months of February, May, August and November. The honorable Editorial Members and the Publisher are very committed to build the journal as one of leading multidisciplinary international journal in the next few years. Besides the basic aim of publishing high quality peer-reviewed research articles, sufficient care is given to the timely disposal of the articles received for publication. Normally, we make decision on an article received in three months time and publish the same if duly recommended by the experts within next three months of acceptance. Submissions: Submissions are being accepted for the current and future issues of this journal. Prospective authors may submit manuscript: Electronically as .pdf, .ps, or .doc file attachments via e-mail: biosim@mililink.com or mili@mililink.com Online Submission: Please go to Online Submission Page of our website http://www.mililink.com Hardcopy: We do, however, readily accept hardcopy. The authors should mail two hardcopies along with a submission letter to: The Editors, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics and Biomathematics Mili Publications 422B Chak Raghunath, Near Railway Crossing Naini, Allahabad 211008, India Tel.: 0091-532-2698315 The benefits of publishing in Biostatistics, Bioinformatics and Biomathematics include: 1. Fast publication times. 2. Excellent editorial standards. 3. A fast, rigorous and constructive peer review process. 4. Abstracts of published papers will be available on our website: http://www.MiliLink.com free to view. Reviewing/Indexing: Papers appearing in BioSIM will be reviewed/indexed in CIS, STMA, Mathematical Reviews, MathSciNet and Zentralblatt fur Mathematik databases. Editorial Policy: Manuscripts will be considered on the condition that they have been submitted only to Biostatistics, Bioinformatics and Biomathematics, that they have not been published already, and that they are not under consideration for publication or in press elsewhere. All published research articles in this journal will undergo rigorous peer review, based on initial screening and anonymous refereeing by independent expert referees. Articles will immediately be put before the screening committee of the publication which will decide to send the papers to referees/members of the editorial board for their opinion with a request to pass on the same in four weeks’ time or less. Once we get clear recommendation for publication, the paper may be included in an issue to appear next. Article Processing Charges and Reprints: The publisher, being a new one, depends on the payment of page charges and sale of additional reprints for its operation. That is why the authors with institutional or grant support will be requested to pay the publication charge of Euro 20.00 per page to help support the journal. Contributors will receive twenty-five reprints of papers ex-gratis. Articles are accepted for publication and published solely on the basis of merit. I take this opportunity to request you please consider submitting an original research paper or review/survey article of your interest in Biostatistics, Bioinformatics and Biomathematics for possible publication. Thanking you, Sincerely yours, M. Sharma The Manager, Mili Publications July 12, 2010 |
