The entorhinal grid map is discretized

In Nature, researchers from the Kavli Institute for Systems Neuroscience, at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology explain how grid cells of the medial entorhinal cortex (MEC), responsible for self-location, cluster into a small number of layer-spanning anatomically overlapping modules with distinct scale, orientation, asymmetry and theta-frequency modulation.
