Inquiry on Combining Task-State and Resting-State fMRI Data in Meta-Analysis
We
are exploring altered brain function in depressed patients,
compared to normal subjects. We have attempted to combine
task-state and resting-state fMRI data for analysis. In our
literature review, We came across an article published in 2013 in
PLOS ONE, titled “Neural Correlates of Psychotherapy in Anxiety and
Depression: A Meta-Analysis.” We noticed that the author
successfully combined task-state and resting-state data in the
analysis. We'd like to know what the criteria are for harmonizing
the analyses. If it's all about whole-brain based studies of
patients versus normal subjects, can the task-state and
resting-state coordinates be analysed together? We are looking
forward to any guidance and advice you could provide. Thank you in

Good afternoon,
It is not recommended to analyze tasks-based and resting fMRI together in one meta-analysis, as they measure different things. However, you could conduct each meta-analysis separately and then use the multimodal option to check the overlapped regions,
