Vision Social: Can fMRI teach us anything new about vision?

Monday, November 17, 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM

Chaired by James J. DiCarlo
Location: Renaissance Washington: Congressional A & B

Guests: D.J. Heeger J.A. Movshon
Over the last decade, we have witnessed an explosion in the use of fMRI to study the brain, including vision. Has all this energy taught us anything importantly new about how vision works? Is there an important role for fMRI to play going forward in our quest to understand vision, or will it be ultimately seen as advanced phrenology? During this incendiary social, we will hear briefly from both sides, and audience participation is strongly encouraged.
