[Mrtrix-discussion] Streamtrack segmentation fault

Dear Gilad,
The only sensible reasons for only having access to OpenGL 1.1 on Windows are:
- you are running mrview in a virtual machine (as already pointed out by Donald)
- you are running mrview in a remote desktop session
As already explained, mrview will never work in those scenarios.
If you are running it locally on a physical machine, I would advise to install the latest drivers for your particular graphics card.
Cheers,
Ben

Hi Gilad,
Yes, your OpenGL implementation is only version 1.1, and doesn't support the operations that MRView will perform, hence the crash. I'm surprised you're using the generic Microsoft software renderer. Essentially this means your graphics card is either extremely basic, or you're missing the drivers for it - unless you're running within a virtual machine, in which case this would be expected, and as already mentioned in previous posts on this mailing, not supported for this reason. In any case, the only way to fix this is to get a decent version of OpenGL working, which I can't help you with. That said, OpenGL is the industry standard for high-performance graphics, and OpenGL 1.3 has been standard on desktop computers since 2001 (even my not-so-recent laptop happily runs OpenGL 3.3). There should plenty of help online on how to get this to work.
Good luck!
Cheers,
Donald.

Donald,
My API version is 6.1, my Renderer is GDI Generic, my vendor is Microsoft Corporation, and my version is 1.1.0. Thanks for your help!

Hi Gilad,
My guess is your system doesn't support the required OpenGL operations. If you start mrview, then go to Help->OpenGL info, you should see a lot of information about what your system supports. Can you tell us what this dialog reports in the API Version, Renderer, Vendor, and Vendor->Version fields? I'm pretty sure MRview makes OpenGL 1.3 calls in certain places, and if your graphics card/drivers don't support that, then that would explain the crash...
Cheers,
Donald.

Dear mrTrix community,
I am rather new to mrTrix and I have had some trouble displaying fiber tracks in mrView. I use a windows computer, and have installed mrtrix 0.2.11. Whenever I try to add a new track in the tractography option, mrView crashes and the terminal window reads 'Segmentation Fault'. What can I do in order to fix this problem so I can view fiber tracks. Thanks in advance.
