Error BioimageSuite Mac OS Sierra 10.12.1
Dear Bioimage Suite developers.
I receive an error when trying to launch bioimagesuite since I changed computer:
BioimageSuite3_Base is now in your path
Key Components
/Applications/bioimagesuite3_base/cmake26/bin/cmake
/Applications/bioimagesuite3_base/tcl84_x11/bin/tclsh
/Applications/bioimagesuite3_base/vtk52/bin/vtk
/Applications/bioimagesuite3_base/gdcm2/bin/gdcminfo
CLAPACK in /Applications/bioimagesuite3_base/clapack3
ITK in /Applications/bioimagesuite3_base/itk310/lib/InsightToolkit
MYSQL in /Applications/bioimagesuite3_base/mysql50
BioimageSuite ready to run. Type bis.tcl to get the starting menu (/Applications/bioimagesuite30)
dyld: Library not loaded: libvtkVolumeRenderingTCL.5.2.dylib
Referenced from: /Applications/bioimagesuite3_base/vtk52/bin/vtk
Reason: image not found
start_bioimagesuite: line 20: 5343 Abort trap: 6 bis.tcl
I believe it is the same error than in a different thread for OS 10.12.
I tried several versions available on the website without success.
Thanks for your help.
Tom

Error BioimageSuite
Mac OS Sierra 10.12.1
The old version (from the website) will not work on newer Macs
unfortunately. You may want to try the "internal" version from https://www.dropbox.com/sh/i5ed09aa1qvtg...

Hi,
sorry to bug with the same problem. I had it before on a previous version of OSX and installing BIS from the dropbox link you provided fixed it. Somehow it did not this time. BIS gives me this error when trying to start it on OSX 10.12.2:
BioimageSuite3_Base is now in your path
Key Components
/usr/local/bioimagesuite3_base/cmake26/bin/cmake
/usr/local/bioimagesuite3_base/tcl84_x11/bin/tclsh

/usr/local/bis: line 20: 776 Abort trap: 6 bis.tcl
Any thoughts?
Thank you,
Stephan

RE: Error
BioimageSuite Mac OS Sierra 10.12.1
You need to install the 3.5 beta version on latest versions on
MacOS. The link is here
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/i5ed09aa1qvtg...
It is beta so use with care.

Error BioimageSuite Mac OS Sierra 10.12.6
Hi~Xenophon
I am new to BIS.
I'm also facing the similar problem. I use Mac OS Sierra 10.12.6 and down the file mac_bioimagesuite35_base64.zip from your dropbox link.
However, I still can't instal the BIS. Even tried other files and typed sudo sh ./bioimagesuite_[filename].sh --prefix=/usr/local.
The terminator always shows No such file or directory.
Shall I need to put the whole files into /usr/local/?
Thank you very much.

Chun-yu,
You downloaded the wrong file - look for the one ending in sh

RE: Error BioimageSuiteMac OS Sierra 10.12.6
Thank you!
I download the file and type
sudo sh ./bioimagesuite_[bioimagesuite-35_0b1_06_Apr_2017-MacOS-c++-x86_64].sh --prefix=/usr/local
but it still showed sh: ./bioimagesuite_[bioimagesuite-35_0b1_06_Apr_2017-MacOS-c++-x86_64].sh: No such file or directory
It seems it's not work. Is there anything wrong?

RE: ErrorBioimageSuiteMac OS Sierra 10.12.6
Rename the file to something like bis.sh and try sudo sh ./bis.sh
-prefix=/usr/local
The [] in the name are giving you trouble.

RE: ErrorBioimageSuiteMac OS Sierra 10.12.6
Thank you. The installation is done.
But how do I launch the BIS?
When I open the start_bioimagesuite, it shows
Application initialization failed: no display name and no $DISPLAY environment variable
Error in startup script: no display name and no $DISPLAY environment variable
while executing
"load /Users/chengrick/Desktop/bioimagesuite35/lib/libtk8.5.dylib Tk"
("package ifneeded Tk 8.5.16" script)
invoked from within
"package require Tk 8.0"
(file "/Users/chengrick/Desktop/bioimagesuite35/lib/iwidgets4.0.1/iwidgets.tcl" line 17)
invoked from within
"source /Users/chengrick/Desktop/bioimagesuite35/lib/iwidgets4.0.1/iwidgets.tcl"
("package ifneeded Iwidgets 4.0.1" script)
invoked from within
"package require Iwidgets "
(file "/Users/chengrick/Desktop/bioimagesuite35/main/bis.tcl" line 45)
Is there anything I miss?

Hello,
Just wanted to thank you for this version, I have a newer Mac and could not run the 3.0 version of BIS.
When you say to be careful when using this version, what you we pay particular attention to?

It is a beta version as it has not been as tested as we would like
