What are the differences between task-based functional connectivity analyses and PPI analyses?

To give some context: Take two groups, each performing two conditions. I am interested in the between group differences in functional connectivity between a seed region and the whole brain during only one condition. What information would a functional connectivity analysis in CONN provide me that a PPI would not and vice-versa.
