2x2 repeated measures ANOVA (Contrasts)
Dear Alfonso,
I would like to run 2x2 ANOVA to explore functional connectivity changes in resting state following the implementation of an intervention. I have two groups (control and experimental), and fMRI was acquired at two time points (pre and post treatment). Therefore, in the second level window, in the subject effects list I have two groups (control and experimental) and in the conditions list two conditions (resting_pre and resting_post). In previous posts you have specified that to obtain group x time interaction results the following contrasts must be typed (between-subject contrast: [-1 1] and between-condition contrast [-1 1]). However, I would like to know what is the difference between that contrast and this one (between-subject contrast: [-1 1] and between-condition contrast: [1 0; 01]).
Could both contrasts be used to calculate group x time interaction or the second one would just examine the differences between the experimental and the control group independently at each condition (pre and post treatment)?
Moreover, when we run the first contrast (between-subject contrast: [-1 1] and between-condition contrast [-1 1]) we obtain T-test results, but when we run the second type of contrast (between-subject contrast: [-1 1] and between-condition contrast: [1 0; 01]) we obtain F-test results.
We have obtained different significant results depending on which type of constrast we perform.
Thank you in advance,
Best regards,
Olaia
