Hi Chenyang,

If there aren't images already discarded automatically by your scanner, I would say it is still necessary for any type of analysis.

Depending on your TR, 10 seems a lot to throw away, we usually automatically throw away the first 4 x 2 second images.

If you have 3D analyze files, it would be as simple as moving those first images out of the data directory before selecting them.

If you use 4D nifti files, you may have to clip off those first volumes during construction, I've never done this myself but it seems there is a 'BeginClip' option in dcm2nii (http://www.mccauslandcenter.sc.edu/mricr...) to remove volumes from the beginning of the session to reduce T1 effects.
