RE: Difficulty in displaying .img image files
Hello Mazlinda,

You can open the IBSR ".img" files in MIPAV by changing the image file to end in ".raw" instead of ".img".  First do that then:
  • In MIPAV, choose "File" menu item "Open image (A) from disk...", then
  • Set the "File Format:" choice to "All Files", then
  • Select the newly named ".raw" slice file, e.g. "657_2_10.raw", then
  • In the window that appears, make sure it says the "Image type" is "Short", the "1st" and "2nd" dimensions are "256".
I just did that and saw the slice open (see the attached Screen Shot).

If you just try to open the files directly, MIPAV assumes that they are ANALYZE format but some of the IBSR files are an old raw format that use the same ".img" file suffix.  Here, "raw" means the files are just a sequence of numbers that correspond to brightness so you have to provide any program opening the file with the number of columns and rows (and slice resolutions if the file is more than one slice).

Andy.
