Also, in your application, it may be a good idea to align only the
pelvis initially, i.e., by thresholding your images for bone, to
get a better initial rigid alignment undisturbed by breathing for
example. Then use that transformation to initialize a nonrigid
registration of the complete images (bone and soft tissues).
