Regarding Torsten's last comment, this is exactly what I did.
Neuromorphometrics worked under a subcontract on my R01, and they
painstakingly manually edited FreeSurfer-initialized surface labels in 101
(publicly available) subjects according to a new labeling protocol (see
http://mindboggle.info/data.html). This was intended as a normative set,
with the hope that others would step in and further fund their efforts to
label more data -- different age ranges, patient groups, repeat scans,
histologically relevant data, etc.
